Indian ride-hailing company BluSmart has expanded its operations to Dubai, marking a significant step in its international growth strategy. This move positions BluSmart to compete with established players such as Careem, Uber, and Hala in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates' largest city.

BluSmart, based in Gurugram, discreetly launched the Dubai service via its app and established a dedicated subdomain for the city. Co-founder Anmol Jaggi revealed that the service began with a pilot phase featuring 100 Audi E-Tron SUVs and 130 drivers, with an official launch planned for early June.

The company, which was considering the Dubai expansion since early 2023, initially denied such plans. However, later in the year, co-founder Punit Goyal indicated in an interview that launches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai were scheduled between November and December. Jaggi has since confirmed that the Abu Dhabi service will commence later this year.

Founded in 2019 by Anmol Jaggi, Puneet Jaggi, and Punit Goyal, BluSmart aimed to challenge the dominant market players with its electric vehicle (EV) fleet. Starting in Gurugram and Delhi, the company expanded to Bengaluru in 2022.

In a recent development, BluSmart secured $25 million in funding from the Switzerland-based impact fund ResponsAbility to enhance its charging infrastructure. The company reported a 102% increase in its annual run rate to $60 million last month, achieving a three-year compound annual growth rate of 300%. With over 7,300 EVs covering nearly 286 million miles, BluSmart aims to grow its fleet to 10,000 vehicles by the end of 2024.
