Mayank Kumar, co-founder of edtech giant upGrad, and Ayush Mathur, former OYO executive, have announced the launch of BorderPlus, a talent mobility platform aimed at solving global labor shortages by connecting skilled Indian professionals to international opportunities.

The Jaipur-based startup will begin operations by addressing workforce gaps in Germany’s healthcare sector, before expanding into other industries such as hospitality, retail, teaching, and construction. Over the next six to eight months, BorderPlus plans to enter additional markets, including the US, UK, Canada, and Japan.

Comprehensive Training Programs

BorderPlus sets itself apart by offering 6-9 month training programs tailored to prepare candidates for overseas roles. The training includes language instruction, cultural orientation, and skills development, with the final phase conducted offline to ensure language proficiency. Additionally, an AI-driven conversational bot built on OpenAI architecture will help candidates practice language skills through interactive sessions.

Revenue Model and Expansion Strategy

The platform follows a recruiter-focused revenue model, where enterprises pay BorderPlus upon successful hiring of candidates, ensuring affordability for job seekers. The company is strategically aligning its leadership team, with Kevin Shah leading demand, Praniti Lal and Radnyee Naik managing language expertise, and Subhendu Chandra overseeing supply operations.

Founders' Vision

Speaking about the initiative, Mayank Kumar highlighted the opportunity to leverage India’s demographic dividend, stating, “BorderPlus is not just about filling workforce gaps. It’s about helping individuals transform their lives and contribute to global economies.” Ayush Mathur emphasized the life-changing potential of international employment for workers and their families, noting, “We aim to bring holistic, structured preparation to ensure success for every individual crossing borders.”

Future Plans

With a strong focus on German healthcare to start, BorderPlus envisions addressing labor needs across multiple industries and geographies. The company’s unique blend of skill-building, cultural training, and tech-enabled solutions positions it as a key player in the global talent mobility market.
