Indian D2C beauty brand RAS Luxury Skincare has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by Unilever Ventures, with participation from the Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund, Sixth Sense Ventures, and angel investors, including members of Keki Mistry’s family.

Growth and Expansion Plans

The company plans to utilize the funds to:

  • Scale Retail Operations: Expand its exclusive brand outlets (EBOs) from two to 50 across India over the next three years, with offline channels projected to contribute 25% of total revenue within four years.
  • Product Innovation: Invest in R&D to launch new skincare products featuring active botanicals.
  • Strengthen Infrastructure: Build its team and enhance technological capabilities to improve customer experience.
  • Boost Branding: Intensify marketing efforts to strengthen its position in the premium beauty segment.

Founders’ Vision and Approach

Founded in 2017 by Sangeeta Jain and her daughters Shubhika and Suramya Jain, RAS Luxury Skincare focuses on offering premium, natural, and organic beauty products. The vertically integrated business model ensures control over everything from sourcing raw materials to direct sales. The brand’s offerings include serums, sunscreens, moisturizers, and other skincare essentials.

Impressive Performance

The company has achieved a 140% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past year. Direct-to-consumer channels account for more than half of its revenue, complemented by a strong presence on major e-commerce platforms such as Nykaa, Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra.

Investor Confidence

Unilever Ventures sees significant potential in the premium beauty segment in India. According to Pawan Chaturvedi, Partner & Head of Asia at Unilever Ventures, “We believe the premium beauty market in India will experience significant growth over the next 5-7 years, and RAS, with its unique value proposition, is well-positioned to capture this opportunity.”

Our Opinion on the News

RAS Luxury Skincare’s successful funding round reflects growing confidence in India’s premium beauty market. The strategic backing of Unilever Ventures and Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund not only brings financial resources but also industry expertise and distribution capabilities. However, the brand must navigate intense competition in the space as it pursues aggressive growth targets through retail expansion and innovation.

This funding positions RAS to expand its reach, enhance customer engagement, and solidify its standing in the competitive beauty industry.
